لقد كانت القبلة اللأولى التى توجه إليها رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم والمسلمون هي بيت المقدس واستمر التوجه إليها ستة او سبعة عشر شهرا إلى أن ارضى الله حبيبه المصطفى فى توجيه القبلة إلى الكعبة الشريفة ولم تكن مدينة القدس مدينة عادية كسائر المدن بل كانت معهدا علميا رفيع المستوى يؤمه العلماء والمتعلمون من شتى بقاع الأرض وقد اهتم علماء المسلمين على مختلف العصور بالحديث عن القدس فإذا احصينا المؤلفات عنها فلن ننتهي فى وقت قليلل ابدا وهذا الكتاب ما هو إلا سردا لأهم المؤلفات التى تحدثت عن القدس وبالرغم من صغر هذا المؤلف إلا انه يشتمل على كم كبير من الأحاديث النبوية والآثار والأخبار الواردة في فضل القدس والصلاة فيه وفضل بعض الأماكن به.
