سيدنا عثمان بن عفان (رضي الله عنه)؛ أمير المؤمنين، ذو النورين، أحد العشرة المشهود لهم بالجنة، وأحد الستة أصحاب الشورى، وأحد الثلاثة الذين خلصت لهم الخلافة من الستة، ثم تعينت فيه بإجماع المهاجرين والأنصار رضي الله عنهم، فكان ثالث الخلفاء الراشدين والأئمة المهديين.
وقد أسلم عثمان (رضي الله عنه)بعد البعثة بقليل، وهاجر الهجرتين، وتزوج اثنتين من بنات الرسول (صلي الله عليه وسلم)، حيث تزوج السيدة رقية، فلما ماتت تزوج أختها السيدة أم كلثوم رضي الله عنهما، فلقب بذي النورين.
وكان سيدنا عثمان (رضي الله عنه) بمثابة الوزير الثالث للنبي (صلي الله عليه وسلم)، ثم صار من نواب الخليفة الثاني عمر بن الخطاب (رضي الله عنه)، ثم تولى خلافة المسلمين.. فحمل الأمانة على عاتقه، وقام بها خير قيام.. ففتح البلدان، وجمع المسلمين على مصحف واحد هو "مصحف عثمان"؛ الذي مازال حتى اليوم بين أيدينا، فكل مصحف معنا اليوم هو مصحف عثمان..
وكان سيدنا عثمان (رضي الله عنه) كريمًا متواضعًا، حييًّا سخيًّا، يحب الناس ويحبونه.. ويألفهم ويألفونه.. كما كان شديد الحب لله ورسوله.. يسعى جاهدًا لإسعاد المسلمين والتخفيف عنهم بكل ما يملك.. ولو على حساب نفسه وأهله وماله.. وظل (رضي الله عنه) في الخلافة حتى امتدت إليه يد الغدر.. فمات شهيدًا وهو صائم.. يقرأ في كتاب الله.
وفي هذا الكتاب يبرز المؤلف من خلال صفحاته حياة سيدنا عثمان (رضي الله عنه)، كما يذكر مواقفه المشرفة.. وما اتصف به من الفطرة السليمة قبل إسلامه، وما قدَّمَه للإسلام والمسلمين من أعمال جليلة وخدمات جمة..
