السبكي، تقي الدين (683 - 756هـ، 1284- 1355م).
تقي الدين علي بن عبد الكافي بن علي السبكي والد بهاء الدين وعبدالوهاب السبكي. فقيه شافعي مفسِّر حافظ أصولي نحوي لغوي مقرئ بياني جدلي. ولد بسُبْك (قرية مصرية من قرى محافظة المنوفية) وإليها ينسب. قرأ القراءات على التقي بن الصائغ والتفسير على علم الدين العراقي، والفقه على ابن الرفعة، والأصول على العلاء الباجي، والنحو على أبي حيان، والحديث على الشرف الدمياطي. له رحلة في طلب العلم، فقد رحل إلى الإسكندرية، ثم إلى دمشق، ثم إلى الحرمين الشريفين، وأخيرًا إلى القاهرة واستقر بها. تولى قضاء الشام فكان نزيهًا لا يخشى في الله لومة لائم. وتولى مشيخة دار الحديث بالأشرفية الشامية البرانية وغيرها. كان عالمًا بارعًا محققًا ومدققًا منصفًا في البحث، رجاعًا إلى الحق له من المصنفات نحو مائة وخمسين مؤلفًا ألحقه الصلاح الصفدي بالغزالي قائلاً: الناس يقولون ما جاء بعد الغزالي مثله، وعندي أنهم يظلمونه بهذا وما هو عندي إلا مثل سفيان الثوري. وعده السيوطي من المجتهدين وكان يلقب في عهده بشيخ الإسلام. من مصنفاته: تفسير القرآن وشرح المنهاج في الفقه للنووي؛ شرح المنهاج في أصول الفقه للبيضاوي إلى قول البيضاوي (الواجب إن تناول كل واحد فهو فرض عين)؛ الاقتناص في الفرق بين الحصر والاختصاص؛ نيل العلا في العطف بلا، وغيرها. توفي بالقاهرة.

الإمامة سفارة بين الله تعالى وبين الخلق، فأولهم بها أكرمهم عند الله تعالى، وأكرمهم عند الله أتقاهم. فينبغي أن يتيّب المسلم الورع الجسارة على الإمامة إن كان في الناس من هو أولى بها منه، ولا سيّما أن الصلاة كلّما تقدّم الناس فيها خيرهم وأولادهم كان ذلك أرجى في قبولها وزكاتها.
وهذه رسالة نافعة كتبها مجتهد عصره شيخ الإسلام تقي الدين السبكي، سمّاها "طلب السلامة في ترك الإمامة"، نبّه فيها على شأن الصلاة في جماعة وما فيها من عظيم المثوبة، وما ينبغي على المأموم والإمام رعايته فيها من تحسين حالهم مع الله تعالى، مشدداً على أن من يتصدّى للإمامة وفي الناس من هو خير منه وأولى ينقص أجر الجماعة؛ واختار أن الناس يطالبونه بذلك النقص يوم الحساب الأكبر! فالإمامة عنده رحمه الله "خطر عظيم؛ إما أن ينال بها أجر عظيم أو إثم كبير".
