يتناول الكتاب دور المرجع السيد السيستاني في بلورة النظام السياسي الجديد في العراق بعد سقوط نظام صدام في 9 نيسان 2003، ويعرض لأفكار السيستاني حول طبيعة الدولة المدنية، وعن مواقفه في أهمية إحترام الحقوق والحريات التي ضمنها الدستور الدائم عام 2005، وكانت لتصريحاته وبياناته دورها الكبير في إنفراج الكثير من الأزمات السياسية والأمنية، ولا يمكن نسيان دور فتوى الجهاد الكفائي التي أعلنها عام 2014 لتكون فوهة المدفع التي حطمت داعش والجماعات الإرهابية الأخرى.
يبقى السيد السيستاني صمام أمان للعراق والمسلمين بما يحظى من مكانة عالية وإحترام كبير في العالم، وستبقى بصماته واضحة في تأسيس النظام الديمقراطي في العراق، ويبقى معلماً للسياسيين والقيادات الدينية في كيفية تعامله مع أشد القضايا حساسية، وحرصه على أهمية إحترام القانون وإنصاف كل المواطنين بلا تمييز على أي أساس كان.
