يعتبر الشاعر الروسي جوزيف برودسكي من شعراء "الأندرغراوند" كما كان يطلق على بعض الشعراء في الإتحاد السوفييتي خلال العهد الستاليني، وهذا يعني أنه كان يكتب خارجاً عن الإطار المرسوم للأدب آنذاك.
كان الأدب واقعياً إشتراكياً، يتوجّب عليه أن يُمجّد الثورة ويتغنّى بالوطن ويصوّر حياة الشعب على أنها كفاح سعيد للوصول إلى الهدف الأسمى، الذي قامت لأجله الثورة...
وحيث إن برودسكي لم يقم بهذا الدور، وكتب شعراً يُمجّد الفردانية ويدعو إليها، شعراً لم يرق للنظام السياسي آنذاك، بل يعارضه!!...
كان أن وصفه بعض المقربين من النظام بأنه شعر "أورنوغرافي"، وحيث إن هذا يعتبر خروجاً عن القانون، فقد واجه برودسكي المصير ذاته الذي واجهه قبله "سولجنستين"، "نوبل"، "وباسترناك"... إلخ، من إضطهاد وإقصاء ونفي... لكن برودسكي فاقهم بأن تعرض في 18 فبراير 1964 لمحاكمة هي الأولى من نوعها في التاريخ الحديث بتهمة أنه شاعر: عاطل عن العمل، ومتطفّل إجتماعي.
وقد وصف بعضهم النص المكتوب للمحاكمة بأنه: "رائعة سوريالية تراجيكوميدية"، حُكم عليه بالسجن لمدة خمسة أعوام مع الأشغال الشاقة؛ وأخلي سبيله عام 1966، وهاجر 1972 إلى الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية وعاش فيها، نال نوبل للآداب عام 1987، توفي في 28/يناير/1996 في نيويورك، ودفن في البندقية إلى جانب "عزرا باوند".
