Book Description
(الإنهيار) إحدى روايات الخيال العلمي المثيرة، كتبها "لاوسبيس"ونقلها إلى العربية "حسين نهاية". تبدأ الرواية برجل علم يتحرك داخل قفص الإتهام خائفاً من احتمال رؤية أعماله تعترض بصورة نهائية، وخاصة إذا كانت تخص هدفاً علق كل آماله عليه.
إنه البروفيسور "روبرت كولينز" استدعته المحكمة بتهمة الإلحاد الذي يسود أعماله العلمية. أما التهمة الموجهة إليه، أبحاث مكرسة "لبعث الحياة في المخ بعد موته...!".
كولينز هذا تختص أبحاثه بالنسيج العصبي، اكتشف خلاله عمله "بأن عدد الخلايا العصبية لا يتغير أبداً. إذ إننا نولد بالخلايا نفسها التي نموت بها..." هذه الصفة الحيوية للأعصاب جعلت البروفيسور يفكر في إمكانية البقاء على قيد الحياة. يقول "لقد شرحت آلاف الجثث فكنت أرى المشهد المرعب نفسه دائماً: أعصاب ملئية بالحيوية مخنوقة بين بقايا دورة غير كافية (...) اكتشفت دورة عقلية جديدة شيء يبطل الخطر الذي يحيقها... أنا قادر على جعل العقل البشري يواصل مهمته حتى بعد موت الجسد البشري...؟"
تتوالى أحداث الرواية حتى يتعرض كولينز لإستغلال "قراصنة الفضاء" وينضم إلى فريقهم "... رغبنا بمجيئك هنا حتى لا تتيه... حتى لا يتلف عقلك الجبار... حتى تتواصل ابحاثك العجيبة.. سيكون لك برج من العاج بإمكانك العمل داخله...".
أحداثاً مثيرة، بإنتظارنا لن نستطيع التوقف عن متابعتها حتى نهاية الرواية.
