تندرج هذه الدراسة ضمن الدراسات الأكاديمية البينية التي تربط بين الدراسات العربية والدراسات الإعلامية، عن طريق تناول الخطاب الإعلامي المصاحب للحرب اللبنانية- الإسرائيلية التي وقعت سنة 2006، ودراسته لغويًا في ضوء نظرية تحليل الخطاب وما يتصل بها من نظريات ومقاربات لغوية.
يبدأ الكتاب بتمهيد نظري يتكون من جزءين: يتناول خلفية الصراع اللبناني الإسرائيلي، كما يقدم نبذة مختصرة عن منهج تحليل الخطاب. ويهتم الفصل الأول بدراسة القدرة التعبيرية للغة الخطاب الإعلامي المصاحب لهذه الحرب من خطب ومقالات، ويدرس الألفاظ الانفعالية والدلالات الهامشية للألفاظ والتعبيرات المجازية وتوظيف الشعارات وبنية المفارقة.
أما الفصل الثاني فيدرس وسائل التأثير والإقناع المنطقية- اللغوية، عن طريق معالجة بنية التكرار وبنية التوازي وبنية التوازن والمراوحة بين الأساليب الخبرية والأساليب الإنشائية تحقيقًا لمقاصد حجاجية إقناعية. ويختص الفصل الثالث بدراسة التناص. ويستجلي الفصل الرابع السمات اللغوية والأسلوبية المميزة لكل من الخطاب الإعلامي المنطوق والمكتوب عن طريق الإفادة من نظرية اللغة المكتوبة واللغة المنطوقة.
