ترتكز شاعرية قاسم زهير السنجري على بعد فلسفي –تأملي، فيه تتجسد عصارة الحياة بكل صورها وأشكالها وتناقضاتها، هي لعبة الحياة، ولعبة الحروب التي تمتد من قصيدة إلى أخرى لتبحث عن الحياة وسط الموت. الموت اليومي في وطنه الجريح، العرق. ما يجعل الشاعر أكثر اغتراباً ورفضاً لما يدور حوله وقريباً من حزنه الذاتي، فيطلق العنان لعاطفته بإيقاعات نفسية ووجدانية عارمة، فيكون الشعر فرصة لاكتشاف بشاعة الحروب التي يلتقط منها الشاعر أدق التفاصيل ويترجمها إلى صور شعرية تحمل الكثير من حرث العراقيين إلى العالم.
تحت عنوان (سماعي غياب) يقول الشاعر: "حزني أنا".. / لغة القصائد/ حين تنثرها بحقلٍ من غمام/ وتلومني/ إذا ما يغصَ القلب/ يهدك بالحمام/ وتلومني/ إني نسيت../ وما نسيتُ البوح يعثر بالكلام!/ هي ذي/ على طرف اللَسان كجمرةٍ/ سعرت../ وصعَرت الحروف../ لكنَ قلبي لا ينام!/ مذ ألف حزن...".
يضم الكتاب ما يزيد عن ثلاثون قصيدة نثرية نذكر من عناوينها: "حينما في العذاب"، "سماعي غياب"، "مزامير الهلاك"، ريشة الوجد"، "أكاليل من رماد"...الخ.
