ليضم الكتاب ترجمة لفصلين فقط من كتاب كبير باللغة الإنجليزية عنوانه:Incar nation in Hinduism and Christtianity the myth of the God-Man. "أي التجسيد في الهندوسية والمسيحية: أسطورة الاله الإنسان" لمؤلف وباحث أميركي معاصر، وأمين مكتبة إلهيات في نيو جرس، يدعى الأستاذ دانييل أي. باسوك E.Bassuk Daniel.
ويتضمن كتابه عرضاً مقارناً لعقيدة التجسد، أي الاعتقاد بظهور الاله بشكل إنسان على الأرض في الديانة الهندوسية والديانة النصرانية. أما الفصلان اللذان تم انتخابهما ليكونا مادة هذا الكتاب المترجمة، فهما الفصلان الخاصان بعقيدة التجسد في المسيحية فقط، حيث يعرض المؤلف في أولهما تاريخ فكرة التجسد، بشكل عام، في المنطقة التي كانت مهداً لانتشار المسيحية، في عهدها المبكر، وهي منطقة الشرق الأدنى القديم، ويعالج في الفصل التالي عقيدة التجسد في المسيحية، مبيناً كيف؟ ومن أين؟
نفذت هذه الفكرة الجديدة الدخيلة إلى البناء العقائدي للديانة المسيحية حتى صارت جزءاً من عقائد الكنيسة، بل يبين في آخر ذلك الفصل أن هناك أوساطاً مسيحية معاصرة تعتقد بإمكانية تكرر تسجد الله بصورة إنسان غير المسيح في هذا العصر، بل ترى أن هذا قد تم فعلاً، ويذكر أمثلة لمن يعتقدون بهذا الأمر! في الفصل الأول يعرض المؤلف عرضاً موثقاً الاعتقاد بتجسد الآلهة في عالم الشرق الأدنى القديم في عهد ما قبل ظهور المسيحية والعهد المعاصر لها، فيذكر أمثلة عديدة لتصور ونظرة شعوب الشرق الأدنى لبعض عظمائهم.
بالإضافة إلى ذلك يبين المؤلف أن الاعتقاد بتجسد بعض الآلهة لم ينحصر باليونان والرومان الوثنيين فحسب، بل كانت هناك أيضاً أفكار تجسدية قديمة بين اليهود. والحاصل أن المؤلف بين للقارئ بأسلوب علمي موثقاً في هذا الفصل أن الاعتقاد بإمكانية ، بل بالوقوع الفعلي، لتجسد آلهة، أو على الأقل كائنات علوية مجردة، وظهورها في شكل عظماء أو منقذين من البشر كان اعتقاداً شائعاً ومتغلغلاً في أذهان شعوب الشرق الأدنى القديم سواء منها الوثني أو اليهودي.
بعد هذا ينطلق المؤلف في الفصل الثاني لبيان جذور التجسد في المسيحية، مبيناً كيف ومن أين دخل التفسير التجسدي لشخصية المسيح إلى البناء العقائدي لكنيسة المسيحية، وكيف بدأت الحقيقة لشخصية المسيح وأعماله، وكيف اختلطت بالخيال والخرافة.
