"مدخل إلى الاحتمالات وتطبيقاتها" كتاب شامل شكلت مادته مرجعاً مهماً في موضوع الاحتمالات في اللغة العربية، إذ أن الطلاب الدارسين لهذه المادة يعانون من نقصان المواد التعليمية العربية التي تبحث في هذا الموضوع من الناحية النظرية والتطبيقية. انطلاقاً من هنا جاء هذا الكتاب والذي هو أول كتاب يصدر في اللغة العربية، ويعالج موضوع الاحتمالات وتطبيقاتها بدقة وتفصيل بعيدين عن العرض المجرد للمفاهيم حيث تم شرحها وتوضيحها وتقريبها إلى الذهن.
كذلك تم التركيز على الجوانب التطبيقية وذلك بعرض أمثلة من مجالات الحياة المختلفة وبذات الوقت لم يغفل الجانب النظري، حيث تمت برهنة معظم ما مرض في الكتاب من نظريات، كما وتم إثراؤه بمجموعة من الأمثلة المحلولة، ووضع في نهاية كل بند أو فصل مجموعة من التمارين النظرية والعملية لتعميق وترسيخ المفاهيم.
وبشكل عام جاء عرض مواضيع الكتاب بشكل متسلسل حيث لا يحتاج الطالب إلى خلفية سابقة في الاحتمالات لدراسته، ولكن يحتاج لدراسة مساقين في التفاضل والتكامل بحيث يغطي المتسلسلات والتكاملات المتكررة، وهكذا تناول الكتاب في فصله الأول المجموعات وطرق العد لما لهذين الموضوعين من ارتباط وثيق بالاحتمالات.
ويتطرق الفصل الثاني لفمهوم الاحتمال وفرضياته وقواعده، وكذلك الاحتمال وفرضياته وقواعده، وكذلك الاحتمال الشرطي والاستقلال ونظرية بيز. ويتناول الفصل الثالث المتغيرات العشوائية والتوزيعات الاحتمالية المنفصلة منها والمتصلة الأكثر شيوعاً وتطبيقاً. أما التوقع الرياضي والعزوم والاقترانات المولود للعزوم ومتباينة شيبيشيف، فقد كان موضوع الفصل الرابع. وجاء الحديث عن المتغيرات العشوائية المتعددة والتوزيعات المشتركة والتوزيعات الحدية في الفصل السابع، أما موضوع الفصل الثامن والأخير فكان توزيع اقترانات التغيرات العشوائية.
