في كتابه هذا يكسرُ الشاعر سوار مُلا حاجزَ العزلةِ، باستعادةِ طفولةٍ هادئةٍ اختارت الظلَّ ونمت حولها ظلالٌ للخوفِ من العالم الذي يحدث خارجَ أسوارها. وحينَ تخرجُ الذاتُ لاحقاً لتلتقي بذواتٍ أخرى، ستغدو هي الأخرى ذاتاً أخرى، شخصاً آخرَ، تُراقبهُ عيونٌ من وراءِ عتمتها. العتمة التي تُشبه لغز الخوف الغامض، الخوف الذي يسكنُ مسامَنا، ويتحوَّل في غفلةٍ منّا إلى وحشٍ بظلٍّ هائل.
ستبدوُ التفاصيلُ الصغيرةُ في "ظلِّ الخوف" رهنَ أسئلةٍ كثيرة، وهي تعيدُ صياغةَ رؤيةٍ جديدة للعالم، تنشغلُ بالذكرياتِ البعيدة واختلافِ الأمكنة، ومصارعةِ الوقت، وكيف يُمسي الخوفُ سلاحَ الضحايا أمامَ القتلة، والمأساة رفاهية الظالمين، وسنقعُ ونحنُ نقرأ هذا الظلَّ الممتدَّ على طول صفحاتِ الكتاب، ضحايا الخوف من كلِّ شيءٍ حولنا: "نحنُ الذين شربْنا من خوفِها/ وخرجْنا بلا عودةٍ/ عامودا آخرُ مكانٍ للطمأنينةِ/ وأوَّلُ ساحةٍ للفزع". يكتبُ سوار ملا.
في يومياتهِ، ومحاولاتهِ المتكرِّرة للتأقلم مع الغربة، أو مكان اللجوء، نكتشف مع الشاعر صيغاً أخرى للخوف، ظلالاً متعدِّدة، وتمارينَ لا يكلُّ صاحبها في البحث عن الحبّ، عن الممكنِ من الحياةِ في ظلِّ غيابِ الأحبّة، والأهل، وتجدُّد الخوف دائماً من فقدانِ أحدهم، مع حدوث ذلك، واحتمالِ حدوثه مرَّاتٍ ومرَّات. ورغم الهواجس والمرثيات سنلتقي كذلك بإيڤا والجار أوشر، ورفاق الأحلام وأصدقاء الكتابة كمزاجٍ آخر للشاعر في واقعه اليوميّ وفي كتابه الأول.
