"تحاول هذه الدراسة تسليط الضوء على جوانب مهمة من شبكات المال لجماعة الإخوان المسلمين واقتصادها المرئي والخفي من خلال مقاربة رؤية الجماعة للمسألة المالية واستنطاق وثائقها ومراجعة كتابات قادتها في الموضوع، مع مراجعة ما كتب حولها من بحوث أكاديمية وتقارير صحفية تناولت قضايا مريبة عن نشاط الجماعة وارتباطاتها الإقليمية والدولية وعلاقاتها المتشعبة والمتشابكة مع مراكز المال والأعمال والنفوذ السياسي عبر العالم. ولعله من الغريب البحث في اقتصاد جماعة تقدم نفسها على أنها ""دعوية"" ما دام يفترض في العمل الدعوي بساطة أدواته وتعفف رجاله والتزام الكفاف في نفقاته. لكن الأمر يجري على غير هذا النحو بالنسبة إلى جماعة الإخوان المسلمين؛ الجماعة التي نشأت دعوية من حيث منطلقاتها وغدت سياسية من حيث أهدافها ثم ما فتئت أن برزت اقتصادية - وبامتياز - من حيث وسائلها وطموحاتها. فصارت هويتها تبعاً لذلك تَتقوَّم بـأبعاد النصوص الشرعية والبراغماتية السياسية والمصالح الاقتصادية، كما أخذ التداخل بين هذه الأبعاد وتشابكها - طوال تاريخ الجماعة - يتبلور في اتجاه تزكية سلطة المال وهيمنة رجاله داخل الجماعة على قضايا النشاط الدعوي والتنظير الحركي والتدبير السياسي لدرجة أن عبد الستار المليجي، أحد قيادييها السابقين، عندما ضاق ذرعاً من تغول رجال أعمال الجماعة داخل مؤسساتها وتسلطهم على مركز اتخاد القرار بها، صرخ قائلاً لقد ""أضحت جماعتنا اليوم تقاد بالصرافين والمصرفيين وليس بالعلماء الواعظين"". فكيف أدارت الجماعة شبكاتها المالية؟ وما العوامل التي ساعدتها في تنمية مواردها؟ وما طبيعة رؤيتها الاقتصادية وأبعادها؟ وماهي أوجه استثمارات الجماعة في الخارج؟ وهل نجحت في تحقيق استقلالها المالي؟ وأي دور للاقتصاد في إدارة معارك الجماعة مع نظام الحكم في مصر؟ هذه الأسئلة وغيرها كثير حاولنا الإحاطة بها عبر فصول الدراسة السبعة التي تصدت إلى البحث في التنظيم المالي لجماعة الإخوان المسلمين، ومصادر تمويلها والعلاقة التي تربطها بمموليها وأوجه الفساد المنتشرة في أوساط قياداتها، ودور الأيديولوجيا والسياسة في تقوية اقتصادها، والقلق المتنامي على الصعيد الدولي من تغولها الاقتصادي ثم مآلات القوة الاقتصادية للجماعة في ظل القيود التي تواجهها بعد 30 يونيو 2013 سواء في مصر أو في العديد من دول العالم."
