"لا تسألي عني... وعن حالي إني هنا وحدي على الرابية، أقرأ في سفر الشقا أحرفاً، فواصلاً من أسطر باكية فواصل للدهر مكتوبة، جيل، فجيل في صدى قافية، تظل من ألفاظها روحها في نبرة كهمسة حانية، كأنها لما تزل في الدنا تعيش في عيشتها القاسية، ولاح لي خنجرها من بعيد ينحر آمالاً لها زاهية، كأنها أشلاء دنيا هوت في عالم يطوى على هاوية، تلفه موجة هذا الضباب في عاصف يعصف بالسارية، في ليلة حالكة بالظلام والرعد أصداء له عاتية، فاستيقظت من نومها ثلة مذعورة القلب بها باكية، كأنها صارت إلى قبضة إلى منايا في اليد الفانية، فأطبق القبر على جسمها فلا ترى منها ولا باقية".
