يضيء الكتاب جوانب في حياة سماحة الشيخ محمد الأمين الشنقيطي وسـيرته العملية ومنجزاته، مبيناً الأصول والمنابع التي شكّلت وعيه وبلورت ثقافته وجعلته من الشخصيات الاستثنائية التي أثّرت في تاريخ الأمة.
ويؤكد العقيلي أن الشنقيطي (1905-1990) اضطلع بدور وطنيّ كبير -في الأردن- على مدى عقود، في مجالات عدّة تقلّدَ فيها مناصب رفيعة؛ في الإفتاء والقضاء، والمعارف (التربية والتعليم)، والسلك الدبلوماسـي، إلى جانب جهوده في إعمار المسجد الأقصـى وقبة الصخرة المشـرفة، وترؤسه الهيئة العلمية الإسلامية، وإسهامه في مشـروع وحدة الضفتين، إذ كان سماحة الشيخ في كل محطة في مسـيرته، أو مهمّة يُختار لها أو منصب يُسنَد إليه، يَطبع بصمةً تنمّ عن رؤية استشـرافية تضعُ مصلحة الأمة والصالحَ العام ومنفعة الناس وتطوير الأداء المؤسسـي في سلّم الأولويات.
تأتي أهمية هذا الكتاب من كونه يتفرد بدراسة شاملة لمختلف جوانب حياة الشيخ محمد الأمين الشنقيطي، جامعاً لمسيرته وعمله، في سيرة تترجم مآثر الرجل وما قدمه خلال علمه من خدمة للوطن والأمة، وبما يعد إضافة إلى المكتبة العربية فيما تتضمنه من ِسـير الأعلام وتراجم رموز الأمة.
