بعد خبرة تزيد عن ربع قرن فى تدريس اللغة الإنجليزية والترجمة والتأليف, وبعد أكثر من أربعين كتاباً ألفتها فى هذا المجال, قررت أن أعد دورة متكاملة للمبتدئين الذين فاتهم قطار إتقان اللغة فى المدرسة والجامعة. لذلك وضعت هذا الدورة فى كتابين, أولهما بين يديك الأن. وهو يهدف لتعليم الطالب مهارتى القراءة والكتابة باللغة الإنجليزية.
ويقدم هذا الكتاب خمسين قطعة قصيرة للقراءة, موضوعاتها طريفة, ثم تدريبات تقيس فهم الدرس للقطعة وأيضاً قدرته على كتابة موضوع مماثل إعتماداً على الإستفادة مما ورد بالقطعة من مفردات ومصطلحات.
وأحسب أن الدارس المبتدئ القادر على قراءة العديد من الكلمات البسيطة دون مساعدة يستطيع أن يستفيد من هذا الكتاب ويتحسن مستواه بإذن الله. وقد وضعت طريقة للدراسة فى بداية الكتاب يمكن للطالب إتباعها, مع العلم بأنه يمكن للطالب تعديل خطة الدراسة طبقاً لإحتياجاته ومستواه.
وفى نهاية هذا الكتاب وضعت قوائم مفيدة للطالب أولها قائمة تصريف الأفعال فى الأزمنة البسيطة (وهى الأزمنة المناسبة للمستوى المبتدئ), وكذلك قائمة مفردات ومصطلحات يمكن للطالب الإستفادة منها فى كتابة موضوعاته. عند الأنتهاء من دراسة هذا الكتاب يكون الطالب قد قرأ خمسين قطعة وكتب خمسين قطعة أخرى مشابهة لها, وهذا فى حد ذاته هدف أول رئيسى لهذا الكتاب.
والكتاب الثانى من هذه الدورة يتناول تعليم الطالب المبتدئ مهارتى الإستماع والتحدث, ومرفق معه إسطوانة عليها تسجيلات لكل ما ورد بالكتاب من محادثات وموضوعات سمعية. ورأى من المفيد جداً للمبتدئ أن يدرس الكتابين معاً حيث يصقل مهارات اللغة الأربعة وهى القراءة والكتابة والإستماع والتحدث.
