وهو موضوع عملت فرنسا على إعادة اكتشافه، كما أنه يخصني شخصياً.
في هذه الأثناء، وبدلاً من عرض أفكاري حول هذا الموضوع، قمت بسؤال المفكرين الفرنسيين الذين عالجوه من قبل: من مونتيسيكيو وحتى سيغالان مروراً بمونتين وليفي شتراوس.
وكي لا أحيد عن الحقيقة، انطلقت في هذا البحث متفقاً مع آراء هؤلاء المفكرين آنا، وضدها أنا آخر.
هذا يعني، أني عملت على الامتناع أيضاً عن الاحتفاظ بدور المؤرخ: "طوال فترة عملي، لم يكن هدفي هو التعرف على الأشياء كما كانت فحسب، وإنما كيف يجب أن تكون أيضاً، كنت أريد أن أعرف وأحكم".
نحن لا نستطيع دراسة الآخرين فقط، لأننا نعيش معهم دوماً وفي كل مكان وفي كل الظروف.
