ذابت في أمواجه المشاعر, وتحللت فيها الأفكار وتجددت الأحزان بفعل أجوائة ذات الشجون, وضاقت ذرعا بالدخيل المنتظر الذي أتى حاملا بين ضفتيه سلسلة من الأحداث المتشابكة والمتواترة التى يخللها صرخات مدجرة تجعلة مجبرا على الرد بين فينه وأخرى بصرخة مفزعة, ثم يهدأ بعدها ولكنة متقلب بطبعه ولا تؤمن عواقبة.
"سبع مسرحيات" تضم نصوصا قصيرة مكونة من فصل واحد كتبها الأمريكي "يوجين أونيل" بين عامي 1914 و 1918 وهي "شرق كارديف" , "زيت الحيتان" , "في المنطقة" , "رحلة العودة الطويلة" , "قمر الكاريبي" , "الحبل" وحيث وضعت علامة الصليب ونشرت في مجموعات متفرقة.
والتي قدمها تباعا في مستهل مشواره المسرحي في مسارح أوروبية مختلفة بداية من عام 1916.
