بناء المحطة المرتفع يتلاشى وكذلك كل الأبنية المرتفعة تتدرج فى إنحدارها حتى تنفتح الرؤية من الجانبين على مديات أبعد. حقول تنيرها الشمس وبيوت صغيرة متناثرة. وفى العمق اري مدينة فاس تبتعد وتتخذ بيوتها شكل خطوط مستقيمة متدرجة لا يشذ عن ارتفاعاتها المعتدلة إلا منائر جوامعها التى بدت محايدة أو بدون معنى. بدأ الأفق بالتهام الإرتفاعات رويداً. ستختبأ فاس وأزقتها وأسواقها القديمة وروائح المسك والعنبر والتوابل والبخور ووجوه بسطائها لتحل محلها المراعى والشمس وحلة تذكر مشتتة اعجز من مسك خيط منها لعيد نسج الأحداث. بدأ التعب يستيقظ فالقيت رأسى إلى الخلف وحاولت ان أدفع بساقى الى الأمام بيد ان المكان لم يكن متسعاً فبقى جسدى شبه ملتوٍ ولبثت رغبتى مترددة بين النظر إلى الحقول والشمس التى سأفتقدها وبين الأستسلام لكسلى والولوج فى نوم متقطع كإيقاع سير القطار. تلمس الشخص الذى يجلس في مواجهتهى, المدفاة باصابعه ثم غمغم:
- لم تعمل بعد..... مازال الهواء بارداً.
اسدلت جفنى. وجوه عديدة تنتظم تتفرق امامى ثم تتداور وتسترسل فى تتابعتها دون إنتظام. وجه عبد الله وهو يستلمس السيجارة بيده ليضعها فى فمه بشكل صحيح. فاطمة تصافحنى وتبكى ثم تخرج مسرعة. صبحى يحمل كأسه متجهاً نحو الجدار ويقلب اللوحة ويمسح دموعه مع شهيق طويل. فائزة تنتظر ثم تبتسم بهدوء. وجوه اخري. اماكن متعددة. حانات مغلفة فى كازابلانكا. مسقاهٍ ساهرة لسائقى السيارات. اسواق قديمة وجوامع فى مكناس. ناتالى تطل من جديد ولكن صورتها لا تخيفنى. سوف لن اعيد التجربة مرة اخري, فالعودة الى باريس تحمل مشاريع عمل اخري وخطوط عريضة لشخصية جديدة. ناتالى لم تعد جميلة ولم تعد الوحيدة. لاح الإنجذاب إليها حالة غريبة لا أستطيع تفسيرها. أفتح أجفانى وادرك حركة القطار وإيقاعه.
