هذا هو موضوع كتابنا، ولقد ارتبط اسم قبرص باسم معاوية بن أبي سفيان القائد العربي أمير جيوش الخليفة عمر بن الخطاب في سوريا، ثم أمير هذه البلاد فخليفة المسلمين الخامس، أو ملك العرب الأول كما يحلو لبعض المؤرخين أن يقولوا، هذا الأمير الذي ارتبط اسمه بأول غزوة بحرية عندما كان أميرا على سوريا في عهد الخليفة الثالث عثمان بن عفان، وكانت غزوته تلك في سنة 684م، وتردد اسم قبرص الجزيرة ذات الموقع الاستراتيجي الهام في الحوض الشرقي من البحر الأبيض المتوسط كثيراً في التاريخ.
وهذا الكتاب يتناول ويفصل في تاريخ ما يزيد على ثلاثة عشرة قرنا من الزمان، أنه تاريخ معاوية أحد عباقرة العرب وأول من أسس الدولة بالمعنى الذي يعرف اليوم، إذن هو تاريخ قبرص الماضي والحاضر، فاقرأ عن (معاوية، وعن قبرص ومكاريس، عن العلاقات التاريخية التي ربطت قبرص بالعرب والشرق الأوسط قديماً وحديثاً...
