"دعه يمر" كتاب يضم ثماني قصص قصيرة. ترتكز القصص بشكلٍ عام على التجربة الحياتية والمعرفية للذات الساردة. ومن ثم نجد أكثر من سارد في القصة الواحدة. أحيانًا ما يكون الخطاب نابعًا من الأنا أو السارد الممسرح الذي يحكي نفسه وعن الآخرين. وأحيانًا يتغير السارد ليصبح ساردًا عليمًا ببواطن الأمور يتجول برحابة حرية في ذوات شخصياته وعوالمها تجوالاً يتيح للقارئ سبر أغوار الشخصيات عبر لغة حادة قاطعة كشفرة موسي.
هناك أيضًا ما يمكن أن نعتبره نوعًا من الاتكاء على التراث المعرفي وتأثر القاص به. فنلمح من السطور الأولى للكتاب ظلال نيتشه. وحيث يوجد نيتشه يكون الحضور الطاغي للمقارنات بين الذات الساردة/ الكاتب وفيلسوفه المهيمن على مجموع أفكاره تجاه العالم، فيقول مصطفى أبو حسين في مفتتح كتابه "دعه يمر": "أنا مثل نيتشه، لا أحب الضعف. لكن مع تقدمي في العمر أقترب منه....." الملاحظ أن الكاتب هنا يمارس نوعًا فنيًا من كسر الإيهام بلغة المسرح، فهو لا يريد إقامة مسافة بينه وبين قصصه؛ وعليه يعلن من البداية حضوره كمتحدث، كذات سارد، كجزء من لحُمَة القص حين يبدأ مجاهرًا: "هكذا تحدث مصطفى."
اللغة عند مصطفى أبو حسين لها حضورها في فعل القراءة، فهي ليست اللغة الإخبارية العابرة. كما أنها لا تقر في بوتقة اللغة الشعرية طويلاً، ولا تنحاز للوصفي التفصيلي أيضًا. إنها لغة تزاوج بين هذا كله بغية الخروج من أسر الأنماط المحدودة التي تفصل بين الأداءات اللغوية المختلفة. ثمة مستوى من التشظي واللعب مع الحكاية، فما يلبث مصطفى أبو حسين أن يستغرق في حكاية بعينها حتى ينخرط في الكثير من التعليقات، وينتقل بين حكاياه بذاكرة أحيانًا ما تكون ثاقبة متربصة بكل التفاصيل وأحيانًا ما تكون مشوشة تتداخل فيها الوقائع والأحلام والأفكار والتعليقات، بحيث يقتضي هذا قارئًا يقظًا يعيد مع النص بناء العالم الخاص جدًا لقصص هذه المجموعة وترتيب عناصره مرات ومرات.
