ولأهمية هذه الكتب دأب الستاذ علي بن محسن السقاف على جمع وتصنيف كتاب "المقتطفات من أحاديث الأمهات" ليقدم للقارىء المسلم مجموعة من أحاديث الأمهات الست؛ مع شرحٍ وافٍ مختصر مستخرج من أشهر كتب الشراح؛ لأحاديث الأمهات؛ حتى يتمكن القارىء العادي والمختص في العلوم الشرعية من معرفة الأحكام واستنباط الفوائد من هذه الأحاديث النبوية، مما يعينه على معرفة أمور دينه ودنياه ... ثم استكمالاً للفائدة؛ أورد المؤلف نبذة مختصرة عن علم الحديث، لفهم مصطلحات هذا العلم، والإستفادة الكاملة مما نقرأ، كما أورد تراجم مختصرة لهؤلاء الشراح وفاءاً لهم واعترافاً بفضلهم، كما أوضح المؤلف في حاشية الكتاب؛ تعاريف لبعض من ترد أسماؤهم من العلماء؛ أو تُذكر عناوينه من المصنفات؛ أو يشار إليه من الحوادث وبذلك تكون الفائدة أعم وأشمل.
