ستانلى لين بول (بالإنجليزية: Stanley Lane-Poole ) (18 ديسمبر1854 - 29 ديسمبر1931) كان مستشرق وعالم آثار بريطاني. عمه كان إدوارد وليام لين.
ولد في لندن, من عام 1874 إلى عام 1892 عمل في المتحف البريطاني, وبعد ذلك اشتغل بالبحث في مصر حول علوم المصريات. من عام 1897 حتى عام 1904 شغل كرسى الأستاذية للدراسات العربية في جامعة دبلن.

هذه هي الترجمة الأولي للكتاب، والذي صدر في عام 1883م باللغة الإنجليزية, كتبه المستشرق البريطاني ستانلي لين. بول , وسار فيه علي خطي جده الأشهر إدوارد وليم لين صاحب كتاب "المصريين المحدثون. شمائلهم وعاداتهم", وإن كان قد فاقه في وصف الحياة الإجتماعية في ريف مصر, كما يتميز هذا الكتاب بكم لوحاته الرائعة المحفورة علي الخشب والإستيل "136 لوحة" والتي تجعل منه تحفة فنية حية ينهل منها محبو الفنون, وتضاف إلي كتاب وصف مصر لعلماء الحملة الفرنسية ولكن بعين وقلم وريشة بريطانية.
يقسو المؤلف أحياناً في أحكامه علي المصريين, وينصفهم أحياناً أخري, وأحياناً ما يخطئ في الفهم, أو يتحامل لغرض ما, كذلك يقسوا علي قومه ويصفهم بالنهابين والمحتالين والمفسدين. صيغ الكتاب بأسلوب أدبي عال, وجاءت الترجمة دقيقة محكمة, وزادها جلاء مراجعة المراجع بما له من باع طويل في الترجمة الإنجليزية العربية, كما قام كل من المترجم والمراجع بالتعليق علي بعض آراء المولف.
كتاب وثائقي جدير بالقراءة والتأمل, ومتحف فني يرحب بزواره.
