كثر التنازع والتضارب- في هذا العصر- حول مسألة إرسال اليدين في الصلاة وقبضهما بوضع اليمنى على اليسرى أثناء القيام في الصلاة، وكثر الاختلاف حول هذه المسألة بين أتباع المذهب المالكي أنفسهم حتى كتبوا فيها العديد من الرسائل التي تنصر الإرسال في الصلاة، وأخرى ترجح القبض لما جاء في إثباته من أحاديث وآثاره مشهورة، ولقد كان لاستعمال الحدة والهجوم على المخالف ووصفه، بالابتداع والخروج على المذهب- من قبل بعض مصنفي هذه الرسائل- واضح الأثر في استفحال العداء والبغضاء بين أتباع المذهب الواحد، ونظراً لأهمية المسألة واستحوذها على قدر كبير من الاهتمام والبحث بين المتفقهة فقد حاولنا أن نطرحها على طاولة البحث، وأن نناقش ما ورد فيها من الأحاديث والآثار وأقوال أهل العلم بعيداً عن التعصب والتهويل وقلة الإنصاف، ومن هذا المنطلق كانت فكرتنا في نشر رسالة العلامة الفقيه محمد بن محمد المغربي الشنقيطي المالكي التي كتبها في هذه المسألة والتي جاءت بعنوان "رسالة في حكم السدل"، وقدمت معها دراسة قبض اليدين وإرسالهما في الصلاة.
