نقدم فى هذه العجالة للطبعة الثانية المنفردة من كتاب "التصوف الإسلامى"، وقد آثرنا تسميته باسم "الحركة الصوفية فى الإسلام" كى يمكن أن تتفق هذه التسمية مع مبنى هذا الكتاب، من حيث أنه يعرض لتطور الحركة الصوفية زمانياً، هذا بالإضافة إلى أنه يتضمن دراسات لمعظم مفاهيم التصوف ومصطلحاته، منذ نشأته الأولى إلى تمام احتواء الطرق الصوفية لمعالمه كلها فى ماضى العالم الإسلامى وحاضره. وليس الغاية من هذا السفر الجديد هى مجرد تسجيل وقائع الحياة الروحية فى الإسلام فى وثائق تاريخية، بقدر ما هى محاولة لإظهار ما خفى من أسرار هذه الحركة المباركة وتمييز الصحيح منها من الباطل، وتوجيه جماعة المسلمين الآخذين بأسباب الطريق ومراقيه إلى أنسب السبل وأصلحها، وأكثرها اتفاقاً مع السلوك السوى والأخلاق الرشيدة التى أرسى قواعدها قدوة المؤمنين، ومقدم هذه الأمة سيدنا رسول الله عليه الصلاة والسلام. وسنرى فى أقسام هذا الكتاب ما يثلج صدور المؤمنين من التزام بأصول العقائد وفروعها وانطلاق من الكتاب والسنة، وتمسك تام بأهداب الشريعة... ذلك هو التصوف، وهو خلق المسلم الحق وطريق عباد الرحمن الذين يمشون على الأرض هوناً.
