وليس من أهداف الدراسة تدقيق الخلاف بين البصريين والكوفيين وبسط القول فيه، فضلًا عن الموازنة بينهما أو الانتصار لآراء أحدهما، كذلك ليس من الأهداف المتوخاة تدقيق دلالة الكتاب على حقيقة الخلاف بين المذهبين أو تخريج المسائل النحوية فيه، وإنما غاية البحث تأسيس نموذج تحليلي لفحص آليات الاستدلال وطرائق البرهنة في خطاب أبي البركات الأنباري من وجهة تداولية، وهذا ما آثرت استقصاءه مجتزئًا باليسير من الأهداف لأبلغ بالدراسة تمامها.
