في كتابه «تجربتي: القلب المفتوح» يشارك الأستاذ عبد العزيز علي الحسن تجربته الخاصة أثناء إجرائه عملية القلب المفتوح، ويقدمها خصوصاً للمريض الذي ستجرى له مثل هذه العملية المعقدة والتي تعتبر صعبة بنظر من يسمع بها، ولكنها ستكون سهلة باتباع التعاليم الطبية الوقائية قبل وبعد العملية وما تصاحبها من تداعيات. ومن هنا تأتي أهمية هذا الكتاب (العلمية والعملية) كونه يساعد العائلة في كيفية التعامل مع المريض ومساعدته لتجاوز هذه الحالة بكل يسر وسهولة، وهو الشيء الذي يؤكد عليه المؤلف بالقول: "وهذا ما دعاني لعمل هذا الكتيب، وهو مساعدة الغير في تطبيق التعاليم الطبية والتوضيح للمريض تداعيات ما بعد العملية وما يجب عليه عمله بكل وعي وإدراك وإزالة الضبابية والغموض عنه".
وبناءً على ما تقدم يشرح مؤلف الكتاب أسباب وأعراض أمراض القلب وأنواع الفحوصات الطبية اللازمة وهي: "التحاليل الطبية، فحص القلب بالجهد، تخطيط القلب، فحص الأشعة، القسطرة، وأعراض أمراض القلب"، ثم ينتقل إلى وصف عملية القلب وهي: "التحضير قبل العملية، الإفاقة بعد العملية، مضاعفات بعد العملية، العلاجات والأدوية، الحركة والمشي، العناية بالجروح، النوم بعد العملية، السباحة والاستحمام، العمل، زيارة المريض، وغير ذلك من نصائح هامة...".
