أعتقد أن أهم ما يميز القرن الحالي بل والقرون القادمة هو النزاعات الدولية المسلحة. فهي تعتبر من وجهة نظري الخاصة أخطر وأهم موضوع في العلاقات الدولية على وجه الاطلاق كموضوع للبحث والدراسة ثم ان النزاعات المسلحة تعتبر وبلا شبهة الأداة الفاعلة في السياسة الدولية لتحقيق مآرب الدول بصفة عامة والعظمي بصفة خاصة على الصعيد الدولي، وفي ظل ذلك نشأت النظريات وتعددت المذاهب وتفاوتت الأراء، وفي ضوء ذلك يمكن تناول العديد من النقاط والتي يمكن بلورتها في ثلاث موضوعات رئيسية، الموضوع الأول وهو يتناول العديد من الأفكار التمهيدية والتي تمثل المدخل الطبيعي والبديهي لدراسة ظاهرة البحث، والموضوع الثاني يتناول فكرة قيام المنازعات الدولية المسلحة والموضوع الثالث ونخصصه لدراسة آثار النزاعات الدولية المسلحة، وكل موضوع من هذه الموضوعات نتناوله في باب مستقل.
