وضع الحراس جاك فى زنزانة تجاور زنزانة نوريس. وسرعان ما تصادقا. فى نفس اليوم طلبا منى السماح لهم بالمبيت فى زنزانة واحدة. وبالطبع رفضت لخطورتهما على بعضهما البعض. كانت من ضمن صلاحياتى أن أسمح للمساجين بذلك إذا ما شعر أحدهم بالاكتئاب مثلاً وأراد أن يبيت زميله معه للترويح عنه. طلب نوريس وجاك مقابلة نائب المأمور (رئيسى المباشر) واشتكانى إليه. طلب نائب المأمور رؤيتى فذهبت لمكتبه. وقال لى إنه سيسمح لجاك ونوريس بالمبيت معًا! اعترضت بشدة على ذلك موضحًا خطورة الموقف لأن نوريس من أكلة لحوم البشر وجاك لا يعرف ذلك. أصر النائب على موقفه وأنا كنت كمن يخبط رأسه فى سور الصين العظيم فى الصباح الباكر اصطحبت أحد الحراس أثق فيه وهرعنا نستطلع الأمر. فتحنا الزنزانة فوجدنا نوريس وجاك على الأرض شبه عرايا والجروح والسجحات والكدمات تغطيهما والدماء فى كل مكان. فقد عض نوريس جاك عضة قوية استأصلت جزءًا من لحمه وبالطبع قاوم جاك مقاومة شديدة طوال الليل حتى أنهكت قواهما. ولولا ستر العناية الإلهية لقتل أحدهما الآخر. بسرعة استدعيت نائب المأمور ليرى نتيجة إصراره.. والإسعاف. وتم نقل جاك بسرعة للمستشفى. ولكنه رفض رفع قضية على نوريس. أما نوريس فظل فى زنزانته وحيدًا إلى أن دعاه السفاحون على الغداء بعدها بشهور وتلك قصة أخرى سأرويها فيما بعد
