للإمام العز بن عبد السلام كتاب قيم فى علم التصوف باسم (حل الرموز ومفاتيح الكنوز) وكما ظاهر من عنوانه فإنه يحل ويشرح الرموز والمصطلحات التى يستعملها المتصوفة مما فيه غموض يشكل على غيرهم.
وقد اشتهر هذا الكتاب باسم (زبد خلاصة التصوف) وهو اسم على مسمى فهو من اهم وأفضل الكتب التى ألفت فى هذا العلم رغم صغر حجمه ولكنه جمع فأوعى فى أسلوب سهل مبسط وعلم غزير يشد انتباهك ويأخذ بأحاسيسك, فتراك مندمجا مع المؤلف وصولا إلى مايريد, وتراك مقتنعا برأيه وإن كنت تخالفه من قبل فيما توصل إليه.
والكتب عموما يستهوى القارئ بجزالة اللفظ, وسلاسة الأسلوب, وسلامة المنطق وصدق المعنى, فيجد نفسه مشدودا, متابعا لأفكار المؤلف وآرائه إلى أن ينتهى الكتاب.
وحيث أن هذا الكتاب خاص بحل الرموز ومصطلحات أهل الطريق, فقد شرح وحل رموز شطحات بعض الصوفية وأولها تأويلا حسنا عملا بأمر الشارع الحكيم بحسن الظن بالناس, وإن كان كثير من أكابر ومشايخ الصوفية ينكرون مثل هذه الشطحات, لما فيها من غموض يوهم بمخالفتها لكمال التوحيد, ويوحى ظاهرها أنها تخرج قائلها من الملة, لذلك حكم على بعض أصحاب هذه الشطحات بالقتل, وإن كان المؤلف كما قلنا قد خرجها تخريجا حسنا وحملها على حسن الباطن لدى قائلها. وقد علقنا عليها فى الهامش بما يناسبها.
