يطرح الكتاب مجموعةً من الإشكالات المقاصديَّة الدقيقة ويقدّم لها إجاباتٍ، فقد طرح أولاً إشكال المعيار الأصوليّ في تمييز مراتب المقاصد الثلاث (الضّروريّة والحاجيّة والتّحسينيّة) بعضها عن بعض؛ فعرض مجموعةً من المعايير استقاءً من عبارات الأصوليين واستيحاءً من أصول الفنّ، ثم طرح إشكال الضبط الاصطلاحيّ لمرتبة (المقاصد الحاجية) وما يتعلّق بذلك من بيان خصائص وتعيين وظائف؛ إذ الخلط فيها يؤدّي إلى اللَّبْس في مفهوم الضّروريّ والتحسينيّ على سواءٍ، وعرَّج الكتاب ثالثاً على صلة الأدلة الحِكْمية بتمييز الرتبة المقصديّة للأحكام التي تستعمل تلك الأدلة في استنباطها، انطلاقاً من عبارات الكبار من أئمّة الأصول والنّظر، فخرج البحث من جرّاء التتبّع والتقرّي والاستفصال والتقصّي بنتائج دقيقة يكون لها بالغ الأثر في الضبط المصطلحيّ لتلك الأدلّة من جهة، وفي التمييز بين رتب المقاصد بمعيار استعمال الدليل من الجهة الأخرى. وأخيراً جاء ميدان التطبيق والتثمير؛ ليتطرّق الكتاب إلى موضوعين موصولين بالمقاصد، ويعمد إلى تطبيق المنظور المقاصدي فيهما؛ فيتحوّل الكتاب بمجموع ذلك إلى مكْمَنٍ لأسرار الصّناعة المقاصديّة، في التنظير والتطبيق.
