كتاب "المسيحية والإسلام من الجوار إلى الحوار" مقسم إلى بابين، يتضمن الباب الأول فيه 8 فصول عن آراء بعض المستشرقين ودارسي علم اللاهوت في أسباب الصدام بين المسيحية والإسلام، أما الباب الثاني يتضمن ستة فصول وهي ردود علماء الإسلام من البلاد الإسلامية، والكتاب نتاج عدة ندوات نظمتها جامعة توبنجن بألمانيا. "أنا الأفضل" تلك الكلمة وهذا الحكم هما أصل الخلاف بين اليهود والمسيحيين والمسلمين، بسبب تشبث كل واحد منا بأن دينه هو الأفضل والأقوم دونا عن غيره من الأديان وهما السبب في توليد حالة ترقب كل منا للآخر، والشحن والتصعيد الذي يولد ويخلق بمرور الوقت وعبر الزمن حالة الاحتقان ليس ضد أصحاب الديانة فقط ولكن للديانة نفسها. لماذا اتخذ كل من المسيحيين والمسلمين بعضهما خطرا على الآخر؟ ومتى نشأ هذا الإحساس بالخطر؟ ولماذا الإسلام بعينه دونا عن الديانات الأخرى مثل البوذية والهندوسية؟ لماذا الخلاف على الرغم من اعتراف كل منهما بالآخر؟ وهل الاختلاف بين الديانتين حول تفاصيل داخل العقيدة ؟ ولماذا بعد مرور 1400 عاما من ظهور الاسلام أصبح العالم يراه خطرا على حضاراتهم؟ على الرغم من كل التقدم التي وصلت إليه الإنسانية فمازالت هناك فجوة معرفية عن الإسلام وحقيقته؟ وهل تلك الفجوة هي السبب في ما سمي في وقت ما بصراع الحضارات؟ كل تلك الأسئلة دائما ما كانت تناقش طوال عقود ولكن من جانب واحد في حلقات مغلقة مفرغة بعيدة عن طرف القضية الآخر، دون مواجهات حقيقية بين طرفي القضية، الأمر الذي جعل هناك جهل للمهتمين ولغير المهتمين لالتباس بعض المعلومات لديهم وعدم وجود من يرد عليها، هذه الأسئلة يرد عليها الكتاب من خلال ندوات نظمتها إحدى الجامعات الألمانية.
