يهتم هذا الكتاب بحكايات الأولياء، ومدى ارتباطها بالنصوص الأدبية والأغنية الشعبية في مناطق محافظة الفيوم، فلقد كان للأساطير دور بارز الأهمية، أفصحت عنها النصوص وكشفت عن نقابها الأغاني الشعبية من خلال الطقوس التي تظهر نصوصاً مختلفة وأغان متنوعة الأداء مثلاً أغاني الزار، والإنشاد الديني، وأغاني الزواج، وأغاني العمل، والبكائيات والتي تؤدي من خلال طقوس وشعائر اعتاد المجتمع ممارستها بمقامات الأولياء. في زمن مقدس خاص لكل ولي من خلال قداسة الزمان والمكان. كما يهتم بالشعائر والطقوس. ويتم تقسيم الطقوس من حيث أدائها إلى قسمين: طقوس أسبوعية، طقوس موسمية. كما أولى الكتاب اهتمامات بتصنيف الأغنية المرتبطة بحكايات الأولياء، والتشكيل الفني للأغنية، وما تحتويه من صور فنية، ورمزية، وإشارات صوتية، وموسيقى، وكذلك التشكيل الفني للموال وأنواعه، والآلات الموسيقية التي تستخدم في الإنشاد، والزار والأداء والمؤدين فرفع الستار عن كيفية الأداء وعلاقة المؤدين بالجمهور. وفي النهاية جاء ملحق عبارة عن النصوص المجموعة، متمثلة في الإنشاد الديني ولغلتي العمل، وأغاني الزواج، وأغاني السبوع، والتعاويذ، والبكائيات وأغاني الزار وحكايات الأولياء.
