خلال العلاج يُكْشَف النقاب عن حياة مليئة بخيبات الأمل والأحزان التي أدت بها في النهاية إلى محاولة الانتحار! فهل سيفلح الدكتور عمر والدكتورة حنان في علاجها؟ أم ستنفذ رؤى ما عزمت عليه، وهو قتل وائل؟! كان البدر يبتسم لي بخبث مقيت تلك الليلة، لمحته من بعيد، الطيف الطويل. كان يقترب في العتمة، وأرى جسده الشفاف يبرق ويتوهج. أمسك كعادته بكلتا يديَّ وقبلهما وهمس: "تكلمي يا رؤيتي، أريد أن أسمع صوتك". اقترب الطيف وارتفع الهمس، زادت حدة الأصوات: "ادفعيه، ادفعيه". استجبت ودفعته، رأيت وائل يهوي ويهوي من أعلى قمة في جدة، يهوي ويسقط كما هويت وسقطتُ، ثم يرتطم بالأرض!
