يأتي كتاب "نجاة مكي: إضاءات" بالتزامن مع المعرض الفردي للفنانة الرائدة نجاة مكي الذي يحمل الاسم نفسه، والذي أقيم بمناسبة إعادة افتتاح المجمّع الثقافي في عام 2019، حيث سلط معرض "نجاة مكي: إضاءات" بعمل الفنانة ومسيرتها الفنية وتأثيرها. وتعد نجاة مكي من أوائل الفنانين الذين عملوا في المجمّع الثقافي منذ أيامه الأولى في ثمانينيات القرن الماضي، حيث عملت رسامة تجريدية، وخاضت تجربتها مع الألوان لتطور أسلوبها الفريد المرتكز على الألوان الزاهية واستخدام طلاء الفلورسنت. وكونها في طليعة المشهد الفني الإماراتي لأكثر من 40 عاماً، أثّرت أعمال نجاة مكي المميزة على أجيال من المبدعين. ويلقي هذا الكتاب الضوء على حياة الفنانة وأسلوبها وعملها، مع توفر أقسام مخصصة للمعارض الفنية، مثل معرض تقليد مجرد، ومعرض نادي الوصل 1987، ومليحة، وحقول الألوان، واليوميات، وإضاءات، بالإضافة إلى الأرشيف الذي يحتوي على صور قديمة ومقالات صحفية. كما يضم الكتاب حواراً مع الفنانة أجرته ريم فضة التي شاركت في تنظيم المعرض مع ميساء القاسمي.
