إن الطبعة الثانية "لعقد العمل في القانون المصري" جد مختلفة عن طبعته الأولي، لا تقتصر علي تعديلها وفقاً لما طرأ من تشريعات، أو جد من فقه أو قضاء، بل هي، في الحقيقة، أقرب إلي أن تكون مؤلفاً جديداً، يتميز عن طبعته الأولي في محتواه، وإن إحتفظ بأسسه وسماته. فقد أفردنا، "لنظرية المشروع في قانون العمل" باباً، خلت منه الطبعة الأولي، لأن المشروع أصبح، في أغلب الاحوال، الإطار الذي يقوم فيه عقد العمل، ولا يمكن، من ثم، أن يظل غير ذي أثر علي تنظيم العلاقات القانونية الناشئة عنه. كما عرضنا النظام للعاملين في القطاع العام، نظراً لأهمية علاقات العمل في داخله، التي ترجع إلي كثرة الخاضعين لأحكامه. ولكن، لم يعد "لضمان أخطار المهنة"،- التي كانت، في الطبعة الأولي، إلتزاماً علي عاتق صاحب العمل، في جملة الالتزامات الناشئة عن عقد العمل-، مكان في هذه الطبعة الثانية، بعد أن أدخلت في نظام التأمينات الاجتماعية، وأصبحت جزءاً منه.
وتظهر هذه الطبعة عقيب صدور قانون العمل الجديد، الذي أريد به، فيما يبدو، توفير إستقرار أوفى في الخدمة، حماية للعامل. لكنه عجز عن تحقيق هذه الغاية، لأنه ضل السبيل إليها في نصوصه، رغم أن أمامه، في القانون المقارن، توجد أمثلة رائعة لتحقيق الاستقرار في الخدمة، عرضنا بعضاً منها في موضعه.
