وهذا الكتاب يتحدث عن المشروع المغولى وعوامل الانتشار وتداعيات الانكسار، فى الفصل الأول: يتكلم عن غزو المغول لبلاد المسلمين، وعن أهمية دراسة تاريخهم والتعريف بهم وموطنهم الأصلى والقبائل التى يتكون منها مجتمعهم، وعن حياتهم الأجتماعية، ودينهم، وتداعى المجتمع المغولى قبيل جنكيز خان، والفوضى فيه محاولات توحيد القبائل المغولية، وأحوال العالم الأسلامى قبيل الغزو المغولى، كالخلافة العباسية، والأيوبيين فى مصر والشام، وانتشار الموبقات، كالخمر، والجوارى، والغناء والطرب، وفى المبحث الثانى: كان الحديث عن ظهور جنكيز خان على مسرح الأحداث، ثم أزلة المغول للدولة الخوارزمية، هذا عن الفصل الاول، أما الفصل الثانى: فيتناول سقوط بغداد على أيدى المغول وما فى ذلك من أحداث مثل تقسيم ممالك جنكيز خان وخلفاؤه، وهولاكو وحصار بغداد ومقتل الخليفة، يمتد الفصل إيضآ ليشمل استعراض اسباب سقط الدولة العباسية ونتائج سقوط بغداد، وصولآ لموقف الشعراء من سقوط بغداد.
