فارتأى الكتاب من هذا المنظور أن يستثمر منهج التحليل النقدي للخطاب في خطاب الصحف للكشف عن الروابط الظاهرة والخفية بين اللغة من ناحية، والبنى السياسية والإجتماعية التي تنتمي إليها ونمثلها من ناحية أخرى.
ويضمُّ الكتاب خمسة فصول أساسية، تشتملعلى جوانب نظرية ومنهجية في التحليل النقدي للخطاب والخطاب الإجتماعي، ومن ثم مقاربة التحليل النقدي لخطاب المقالات الصحفية لدى الكاتبات السعوديات تحديداً بالإستناد على مقاربة نورمان فيركلوف الجدلية للخطاب التحليل النقدي للخطاب في البحث الإجتماعي.
