خشى رجال السياسة وأذناب الإنجليز الإمام الشهيد فحاولوا إبعاده عن السياسة، ولكن كل ذلك لم يثنه عن عزمه فقام يُعرف الإسلام بأنه: عقيدة وعبادة ووطن وجنسية وسماحة وقوة وخلق وثقافة وقانون.
ثم أنشأ بالقاهرة (جريدة الإخوان المسلمين) اليومية، فكانت منبره بالكتابة إلى جانب منابره الخطابية، وحدثت كارثة فلسطين فكانت (كتيبة الإخوان) فيها من أنشط الكتائب المتطوعة ووصلت إلى أبواب تل أبيب وكادت أن تدخلها لولا خيانة حكام ذلك الزمن وتوقيعهم الهدنة وإعتقال الملك فاروق قادتهم والبارزين منهم، ولم يكتف الإستعمار بهذا بل حرك أذنابه لإغتيال البنا.
و أمام مركز جمعية (الشبان المسلمين) فى القاهرة أطلقوا عليه رصاصهم الغادر وولوا هاربين.
ولم يجد البنا من يضمد جراحه، لقد تركوه فى أرض المستشفى بعد نقله إليها ينزف دمه وهم ينظرون إليه، دون أن تدمع لهم عين أو يرق لهم قلب ومنعوا عنه إخوانه فتوفى بعد ساعتين فى سنة 1949م.
وقد ترك الشهيد -رحمه الله- مؤلفات فى غاية الروعة، منها مذكرات الدعوة والداعية ومجموعة الرسائل - وقد جمعناها كلها بين دفتى هذا الكتاب.
