يرتكب جميع الرؤساء التنفيذيين الذين يفشلون في أداء عملهم- ومعظمهم كذلك- الخطأ نفسه وهو الوقوع فريسة في شباك واحد أو أكثر من الإغراءات التي يبهرهم بها المنصب الجديد، مما يدفعهم لارتكاب واحد أو أكثر من الأخطاء الخمسة القاتلة التي تقودهم ومؤسساتهم إلى الفشل.
