لقد أثرت على اللغة العربية عدة مؤثرات منذ دخول الاستعمار إلى البلاد الإسلامية، وفرض لغته، وغلبة ثقافته، وبعد خروجه عسكريًا ظل التأثير السلبي على اللغة العربية وأهلها حتى جاءت المؤثرات الحديثة من الثورة التقنية، والمعلومات وثقافة القطب الواحد، وما تلاه من عولمة أمريكية في كل شيء، وغلبت الرطانات، والعاميات، والنزعات الفردية، وهيمنة اللغات الأجنبية، مما زاد من ضعف اللغة العربية وفقدانها الكثير من مقومات هويتها وشخصيتها التي اكتسبتها منذ عصر النبوة، وما قبله، وبعد نزول القرآن الكريم الذي جعل اللغة العربية أساسًا للفكر والثقافة والعلم، زيادة على كونها لغة الوحي، والحفاظ عليها حفاظ على الوحي، وضياعها ضياعه، وبقاؤها بقاؤه مما يحتاج منا إلى سياسة مدروسة، وخطط مستقبلية، تشترك فيها كل الدول المتحدثة باللغة العربية.
