أسهمت الحروب الأهلية التي عرفتها بلدان عربية مثل سورية والعراق وليبيا وما نتج عنها من لجوء إلى دول الغرب إلى نشوء حركة "بيفيدا"، وهي حركة احتجاج انطلقت في خريف 2014 في ألمانيا، ضد الإسلامو فوبيا، فتجاوزت صور مظاهرات حركة بيفيدا العنصرية المعادية للإسلام ألمانيا لتبلغ ارجاء مختلفة من العالم. لكن أصواتاً كثيرة ارتفعت منددة بهذه الحركة، منها صوت الكاتب المتخصص في الأدب العربي، الألماني "ستيفان فايدنر"، الذي يقدم إلينا في كتابه "خطاب ضد الإسلاموفوبيا في ألمانيا والغرب .. مناهضة بيفيدا"، تحليلاً واضحاً وفاضحاً لحركة بيفيدا وللأيديولوجيا والدول التي تقف وراءها. إنها الإيديولوجيا العنصرية نفسها التي يجدها المسلمون العرب في بلدان غربية أخرى. يقول المؤلف في مفتتح كتابه " ... أن الكثير من الأفكار التي تروج لها بيفيدا، ليست خاصة بها، بل هي منتشرة وعلى مستويات متعددة لدى قطاعات واسعة من الشعب الألماني، وفي الإعلام والسياسة، ولدى مثقفين، وذلك قبل ظهور بيفيدا إلى الوجود (...) وهذا يعني أن من يريد أن يقف بجدية ضد بيفيدا فعليه أن يقف ضد الإيديولوجيا التي تقف وراءها. تلك الإيديولوجيا لا تختلف عن شبيهاتها التي نعرفها في بلدان أخرى والتي يوصفها إدوارد سعيد في كتابه "الإستشراق". علينا أن نحلل الحجج التي تقوم عليها هذه الإيديولوجيا ...". وهكذا يبدأ المؤلف بتفكيك الثقافة الغربية، في محاولة لتفنيدها، ونقد الصورة النمطية عن الإسلام السائدة في النظام العالمي النيوليبرالي كما في العالم الإسلامي، حيث تطور الإسلام الراديكالي نقيضاً للغرب، كما هو الحال لدى الحركات الأصولية.
