الغرفة" الرواية المتأهلة للتصفيات النهائية لجائزة مان بوكر والحائزة على جائزة الكتاب الإيرلندي، وهي من تأليف الروائية إيما دونهيو وترجمة منتدى فايز علمي ومراجعة وتحرير مركز التعريب والبرمجة. تقول الحكاية: في التاسعة عشرة اختطفها، وسبع سنوات في سجنه تركها، حملت منه وماتت طفلتها خلال المخاض، ثم أنجبت من دون مساعدة طبية وبمفردها قطعت الحبل السري. في غرفة تقع في فناء بيته الخلفي أقامت، في غرفة معزولة صوتياً، ومبنية بطريقة تجعل الخروج منها مستحيلاً، حتى أن قفل بابها مزود بقفل رقمي لا تعرفه؛ ولا تعرف عن الحياة شيئاً إلا من خلال تلفاز لا يلتقط سوى ثلاث محطات تلفاز. يزورها جالباً لها الطعام، يعاشرها، وبعد ذلك يأخذ القمامة ويغادر. اليوم بلغ الطفل عامه الخامس، وهو لا يعرف عن الحياة إلا الغرفة وما يشاهده من التلفاز. ولكن الأم السجينة كرست حياتها لإنقاذ حياة هذا الطفل وإن كان والده هو سجّانها. طفل في الخامسة لا يزال يرضع من ثديها، ولكنه يُحسن القراءة، علمته بقدر ما استطاعت عن الحياة، واهتمت بصحته ولياقته على أمل أن يحظى بصحة جيدة.
وذات يوم قررا معاً الخطة الكبرى (الهروب)، ولكن، هل سينجحان فيها؛ وإن نجحا كيف سيكون العالم بالنسبة إليهما خارج الغرفة؟ إنها قصة نضال من أجل الحياة، وقصة رجل عديم الإنسانية... قصة ستهز مشاعر قارئها بالتأكيد.
المؤلفة: إيما دونهيو (ولدت في 24 أكتوبر 1969) هي كاتبة مسرحية إيرلندية.. كندية، ومؤرخة أدبية، وروائية، وكاتبة سيناريو. وصلت روايتها العام 2010 إلى الدور النهائي لجائزة مان بوكر، وكانت من أكثر الكتب مبيعاً على مستوى العالم.
