رحلة الرَّبي ميشولام بن مناحم الفولتيري 1481م
وكان ميشولام بن مناحم الفولتيري أحدَ الرّحالة اليهود الذين زاروا فلسطين مرورًا بالإسكندرية والقاهرة وصحراء سيناء , وصولًا لغزة وحبرون , ثمّ القدس , ومنها بالطّريق الساحلي عبْرَ يافا قفلَ لبلاده.
ولعلّ الأمر الذي يزيد من قيمة المادّة التي حوتها رحلةُ ميشولام بن مناحم بالذات أنّ صاحبها لا يمتّ إلى ذوي السّلطان بصلة , فكان شأنُه عندَ تسجيل مشاهداته - السّياسية والاقتصادية والعلمية خاصّة - يتّصف بالمصداقية غالبًا , فاليهودي ميشولام بن مناحم صاحبٌ لم يركبِ الأهْوال ويتجشّم مشاقّ السفر إلى الأقطار السحيقة , في عصورٍ تباعدت الشّقّة بين بُلدانها , ووعرت المسالكُ , وعسرت طرقُ المواصلات ؛ لنظمِ قصائدِ المديح , ونسْجِ عبارات الثّناء لأرباب القصور وأصحابِ التّيجان ؛ إنّما كان يعني في دراسةِ أحوال البلدان التي يجوبها , ومعرفة سهلِها ووعْرها , وجبالها وحزونها , وأوديتها وأنهارها , وخيراتها وخيراتها , وغلّتها , والوقوف على محاسنِها ومساوئها , وتقدّمها أو انحطاطها , وسيرة أهليها وعقائدهم ودرجة حضارتهم ومدنيّتهم , وطرق معيشتهم , وأسباب رزقهم , وما اتّصفوا به من أخلاقٍ وعادات وخمولٍ ونشاط وقعودٍ ونهوض , وما إلى ذلك من أحوالٍ لها الأثرُ المباشر في سيْرِ التّاريخ وتطوّر الأحداث .
فتراه - غالبًا - يمتدح مَن يجدرُ بالمدح, ويشجبُ ما يستحقّ الذّم , من غير ما خوفٍ أو رقابة , فتخرج لنا الصورة التي يرسمُها للبلدان والأقطار التي ارتادها , في غالب الأحيان , قريبةً مِن الواقع السياسي والاقتصادي بالخصوص, دانيةً من الحقيقة .
