وإن كانت رياح أزمة منتصف العمر قد ألقت بي على ضفّة الجزء الأوّل من هذه السيرة، فإِنّ سفَر زوجتي وأبنائي، وبقائي وحيداً في المنزل لمدّة سبعين يوماً - أستيقظ خلالها صباحاً لأنطلق إِلى عملي في الجامعة، وأظلّ فيها حتّى الرابعة مساءً، ثمّ أنطلق إلى المستشفى العكسريّ في الزرقاء لأكون بجانب والدتي فاطمة حتّى الثانية عشرة ليلاً - قد ألقى بي على ضفّة الجزء الثاني من السيرة، والّذي ما كان ليُكتب لولا ما أمدّتني به والدتي الحبيبة من عزيمة وصبرٍ على إحتمال الألم وتجاوزه، فقد أذهلني صمودها وحضور ذهنها في أكثر لحظات اشتداد المرض عليها، إِلى درجة أنّها أفاقت مرّةً من إِحدى نوبات الإِغماء، الّتي انتابتها بعد أن خاضت صراعاً مضنياً للبقاء، لتذكّرني بأسماء الأشخاص الّذين اعتادت أن تتصدّق عليهم، وللتأكّد مّما إِذا كانت صدقاتها المتواضعة قد وصلت إليهم كالمعتاد أثناء مرضها الطويل؛ وما هذا الجزء الثاني من السيرة إِلّا خلاصة ما كتبته في كلّ ليلةٍ عدت فيها منِ المشفى بعد منتصف الليل ولم أجد ما أفعله سوى الكتابة بتدفّقٍ رغبةً منّي في التخلّص من ذلك الألم المكبوت القديم وهذا الألم الماثل في آنٍ واحد.
