دفعنى بغضبى للجغرافيا المدرسيه لاختراع جغرافيا بديله عبر سباحه الشوارع التى كنت اؤديها كفرد يومى فى محاوله غير مرتبه لاكتشاف الجهات والانحاء التى عرفتها والتى لم اعرفها بعد ظل دافعى الوحيد لذه الطواف والسير بلا قصد وبلا مصباح يضيئنى ولا ملاذ للاطالس والخرائط الصماء والتى رسمتها مصلحه عموم المساحه بمصر حيث عرفت محبه البحث عنها وهويت اقتناء ما تناثر منها فاعكف على تاملها وقراءتها بعد السير الطويل وبعد ان اقصد خريطه مجلس بلدى الاسكندريه لحضره نيكوهوزف بك المهندس فى العام 1929 ربما كانت رغبتى فى شق الشوارع والدروب والمسافات الطويله اشبه باستعاده تاريخيه لشهوه السفر الذى عاشقته ولم اجربه قط سوى عبر القطار القطر المصرى وكان ظنى اننى عرفت كل الوجوه والدروب ولحوات الشوارع المعدنيه والبيوت التى صادفتها فعرفتها عن ظهر قلب عرفت شوارع ليست صماء كالخرائط شوارع تعيد انتاج بشرها وكائنتها التى حدست اننى ساطالعها مرات ومرات وتغمرنى روح هائمه ومنولوج داخلى باحثا عن لحظه حقيقيه اتوحد معها واكتمل وليمثل امامى بعضها من رجع الصدى بعضا من طلل ما اندثر
