يسعى هذا الكتابُ إلى ملامسة إشكاليَّة الذّاكرة في الحكي الروائي تنظيراً وإجراءً، وما كان لنا أن نُقبِلَ على مثل هذا الموضوع لولا ما لَحِظْناه من خَصاصةٍ في الإحاطة الدقيقة المُستبصِرة بطبيعته وبالأسئلة المُحرجة التي يبتعثُها في مجال التَّخييل بكلِّ أصنافه، ولا سيَّما في مستوى الآليّات التي تشتغلُ بها الذّاكرةُ في مجال الرِّواية تحديداً.
ولم يكن دَيدَنُنا - في هذا المسعى - تَردادَ ما تزخرُ به الأدبيّاتُ الغربيَّةُ من أفكارٍ متَّصلةٍ بمسألة الذّاكرة، والإكتفاء بالبحث تطبيقاً عن صدى لها في النصَّ الرِّوائيِّ العربيِّ، بل كانَ هَمُّنا العملَ على محاورتها إنطلاقاً من أسئلتنا الخاصَّة التي تستندُ إلى تصوُّرنا الخاص التَّجديليِّ التَّضافريِّ، بما يعنيه هذا من مراجعةٍ لعددٍ من الأفكار النَّظريَّة التي سادت في النُّظر إلى الذَاكرةِ، ساعينَ إلى صياغة خياراتٍ أكثرَ إسعافاً في فهم الذّاكرةِ وإشتغالها في مجال التَّخييل، ولم يكن ميسوراً أن يتوافر لهذه المراجعة نصيب من المصداقيَّة العلميَّة من غير تعضيدها بإقتراحات إجرائيَّة تمكنُ الباحث من الآليات التي تُسعِفُهُ في فهم الكيفيَّة التي تشتغل بِها الذّاكرةُ في النصِّ الرِّوائيِّ.
