هذا الكتاب كتاب جليل في التصوف ينفع به كل من يدرسون التصوف نظريا وعمليا... والتصوف مذهب يزهد في الدنيا وهو مذهب المتجردين الذين لا شأن لهم بدنيا الناس ولا بمال الناس والكتاب بحث على الكفاح والجلاد والتصوف عزلة وانفراد لا شأن له بكفاح أو جلاد أو سعي في الأرض ويقول صاحب كتاب عوارف المعارف الصوفي هو المقرب وأن الصوفية تعني المقربين وأن مشايخ الصوفية الذين أسماؤهم في الطبقات وغيرها من الكتب وغيرها من الكتب كلهم كانوا من المقربين وعلومهم علوم أحوال المقربين ومن تطلع إلى مقام المقربين من جملة الأبرار فهو متصوف ما لم يتحقق بحالهم فإذا تحقق بحالهم صار صوفيا ومن عداهما ممن تميز بزى ونسب إليهم فهو متشبة.
