فقد خلق الله الإنسان وفضله على غيره من المخلوقات، قال تعالى في محكم التنزيل (ولقد كرمنا بني آدم وحملناهم في البر والبحر ورزقناهم من الطيبات وفضلناهم على كثير ممن خلقنا تفضيلًا) ووهب الله الإنسان السمع والبصر والقدرة على التخاطب، كما وهبه العقل والقدرة على التمييز والتعلم واكتساب المعارف والمهارات والقدرات، قال عز من قائل (الرحمن، علم القرآن، خلق الإنسان، علمه البيان)، كما قال سبحانه وتعالى (ألم نجعل له عينين، ولسانًا وشفتين، وهديناه النجدين)، وجعل الله الناس بعضهم فوق بعض درجات لحكمة اقتضاها قال تعالى (أهم يقسمون رحمة ربك نحن قسمنا بينهم معيشتهم في الحياة الدنيا ورفعنا بعضهم فوق بعض درجات ليتخذ بعضهم بعضًا سخريًا ورحمة ربك خير مما يجمعون)، والإنسان بما وهبه الخالق عز وجل من قدرات وبما ميزه الله به من العقل وبما فضله به على غيره من المخلوقات استخلفه الله في الأرض وكلفه بعمارتها، والإنسان وعلى مر العصور كان ولا يزال أهم الموارد وأغلاها وأثمنها، إلا أن قيمة رأس المال البشري تضاعفت مع ظهور عصر المعلومات، وعصر الاقتصاد المعرفي، حيث أصبحت المعرفة المحرك الرئيس والقوة الدافعة الأهم في المنافسة وأصبح من يمتلكها اليوم يمتلك المزايا التنافسية التي تضعه في طليعة سباق المنافسة، من هذا المنطلق نشأ الصراع على المواهب باعتبارها المصدر الرئيس للمزايا التنافسية في ظل الاقتصاد المعرفي.
