لا أعتقد أن شخصية روائية حازت إعجاب الناس عامة , مثلما حظيت به شخصية ( جان فالجان ) بطل رواية البؤساء الخالدة , التى أبدعها وأتقن نسجها وأخرجها بهذا اللون القصصي الرائع شاعر فرنسا العظيم ( فيكتور هوجو ) لا سيما بعد أن شدت اهتمام العاملين في السينما العالمية , فتحولت قصة الرجل الفقير المعدم والبائس إلى فيلم يعد من أهم كلاسيكيات السينما العالمية جان فالجان الذي سرق وسجن مع بؤساء عصره قبل الثورة الفرنسية.
إن حافظ إبراهيم إنما يتحف قراء العربية بهذه الترجمة النادرة , فنقلها إلى فضاء اللغة العربية الفصحى بجناسها وطباقها ومحسناتها البديعية التى ارتقت بالنص دون أن تفقده جوهره , أو تمس روح النص الأصلي أو تحرف في مساره , أو تلعب على حبكته مما زاد من قداسه النص الأصلي , ونهضت بقيمته الدلالية والإشارية في إحالة إلى متعة اللغة العربية , وجزالة ألفاظها , وطرافة مترادفاتها , لتحلق الرواية بجناحين جناح الترجمة وجناح التعريب.
ودار الوليد بدمشق والقاهرة التى آلت على نفسها أن تقدم لقرائها نوابغ السرد الروائي العالمي , عملت على إعادة طباعة هذه الرواية الرائعة حتى يكون قراء اليوم على تواصل حميمي مع النوابغ الخالدة خلود الدهر نفسه وأن يدركوا ان الإبداع الأصيل هو الذي يعبر عن قضايا الإنسان في عوالمه المضطربة لحيازة جمالية العالم كله.
