إن «ألفية السيرة» التي بين أيدينا للإمام العلامة الحافظ زين الدين أبي الفضل عبد الرحيم ابن الحسين العراقي.. منظومة سهلة ميسرة، تلقاها أولو المعرفة بالقَبول والاستشهاد بها. ثم إن الطلاب قد تناقلوها، وقرؤوها وحفظوها؛ لعذوبة نظمها، وسهولة أسلوبها في ذكر سيرة النبي المختار صلى الله عليه وسلم نظمها ليترنم بها محبو النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم ويسعدوا، ويذكروا أحواله الكريمة وبها يقتدوا.
وناظمها أشهر من أن يعرف؛ فهو الإمام الحافظ العراقي، المحدث الشهير، والعلامة المتفنن. وهو الذي قال عنه تلميذه الحافظ ابن حجر العسقلاني واصفاً إتقانه في علم الحديث الشريف: (ولم نر في هذا الفن أتقن منه).
هذه المنظومة البديعة الرائعة حقاً تميزت في طبعة دار المنهاج بمقابلتها على أصلٍ مخطوطٍ سطر بخطّ المصنف، وعليه تعليقاته، وفي آخره إجازاته لمن قرأها عليه. وقد ضبط المصنف أكثر كلماتها بالشكل. وقد أخرجت برونق فني وعلميٍّ جميل وبهيٍّ جداً، مما يسر قلب الطالب ويثلج صدره.
